This therapy can help to alleviate the stresses and tensions built up from physical activity be it work or sport related. Sports massage breaks down scar tissue and fibrous knots allowing blood to flow more freely, thus stimulating the healing process. Anyone can benefit from this type of massage. The pressure applied is slightly firmer in order to relieve the muscles and tension that occurs. Sports massage focuses on the muscles relevant to a particular sport; it is a deep muscle massage often concentrating on areas around a joint. Sports massage is a combination of Swedish massage and trigger point (acupressure). It uses compression and neuromuscular techniques to reduce soreness acquired through physical activity.

A Sports Massage will utilize specific strokes and stretches to help obtain maximum performance and physical conditioning with less chance of injury or pain. It increases power, endurance and flexibility both pre and post event or workout. Should an injury occur then massage can help shorten the time needed to recover.

Sports Massage can be used prior to exercise to prevent muscle injury's which may occur due to overexertion and / or use.

Choose from a full body massage (60 minutes), half body massage (30 minutes), or site specific. Prior to the first massage a consultation is required to complete the health questionnaire and a brief medical history. If required the Sports Massage therapist will offer guidance on stretching techniques and exercises.

Regular massages maybe advisable depending upon your level of activity. Pre and Post Event Massage’s are beneficial for all sports enthusiasts. Warming up the deep tissues, assisted stretching and the removal of lactic acid build up. Sports Massage will help prevent injury and muscle soreness and help the healing process when injury has occurred.

Thought out my time of going to spa’s I have never experienced a massage like this. In my day job I drive up and down the country in my first session with MultiFit I also learnt about the effects driving is having on my posture, MultiFit has guided me on postural correction and stretches. I will be continuing to use MultiFit for my massages.

Joanne Deegan

"I have been attending regular massages at MultiFit for sometime. My job used to include a lot of heavy lifting and repetitive muscle strain. The masseur not only got rid of my muscle ache and pains as well smoothing out my tension but also helped me correct my posture and taught me how hold the correct technique when lifting heavy objects. They also helped me when I recently suffered from a sporting injury, they gave me advice and basic treatment I could also do at home to help me to recover quickly."
